President's Corner III

President's Corner III

Global CDH is now a tax-exempt organization under the 501(c)(3) tax-code. This makes me proud and excited. I am proud to announce that with this immense responsibility comes a lot of opportunity to reach our mission and long-term objectives.

In an effort to achieve our objectives our strategies and mission must be in-line. As such, Global CDH has partnered with DHREAMS research study at Columbia University Medical Center (more) and implemented a mentoring program, called College of Mentors, aimed to assist our volunteers reach their full potential (more). The aim of this mentoring program is to capitalize on the pool of knowledge individual mentors will possess based on professionals who will enhance our strategic interest and strengths based on expert advice in multiple areas.

Another aspect I am personally proud of is our overall performance and personal commitment to assisting the CDH community (more). Our community service goes a long way with the assistance of many individuals. One such person is Colleen Adams who was named one of the 100 most influential nonprofit members in 2009. Colleen has assisted Global CDH with our trademark application for registration. Noah was a great sport and painted a canvas which was later presented to Colleen.

In 2010 we aim to assist 20 families affected by CDH. Since our founding year, May 2008, we have supported 11 families with our programs. The parents and families which have received the packages have been delighted and thankful.

Another avenue we aim to assist our community is through personal stories. Please take a moment to view the blogs posted on our website. (Blogs) These blogs are a huge resource for families to find out how ‘normal’ people are living with a CDH child.

Above all THANK YOU to all who have supported Global CDH - the CDH parents truly appreciate it!

On behalf of families affected by CDH,
