The primary reason Luis is running this marathon is for his daughter, Isabela, which is a CDH survivor - and all who have gone through a similar road. You see, every day he realizes that all the pain she endured throughout her six months in the hospital proves that (as the Marines say) pain is weakness leaving the body. Now that she is two years old, Luis has seen how 'determination' in his daughters eyes may lead the body to where their heart is. This is why Luis will complete this marathon with a smile!  Just like this picture taken before the 2009 NYC Marathon.  Luis is determined to run this marathon for Global CDH and all other organizations that are assisting to make this event a success. 

Thus far in training for this marathon...Luis has completed a marathon in Boston and in New Jersey.  He has also completed the Turkey Swamp 50K, attempted the Green Lakes Endurance Run of 100K (only reached mile 48) at the end of August, and successfully completed Virgil Crest Ultra 50 mile.

I live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I am running as a member of this team to support my coworker, Tiffanie, whose beautiful daughter is a CDH survivor. I see the daily struggles that Tiffanie faces as she struggles to deal with the on-going doctor’s visits, health concerns, etc. and admire the fortitude and strength of her family. She does what she has to do each and every day. My sister-in-law’s niece is also a CDH survivor. I have heard much about their struggles as well and know that it has not been an easy road for them either. As the father of four children myself I cannot imagine having to combat such an issue and look forward to the opportunity to support all children and their families whose lives are impacted by CDH.

A little about me ~ I am an advocate for CDH after my twin nephews were born.  Will & Michael Joseph were born July 25, 2009.  Will is a healthy boy while MJ was diagnosed with CDH & lived for 35 wonderful days.

I am doing this marathon to make a difference in these innocent babies' lives.  This is for them and their fight the courage they have each day to go on.

Although God had another plan for MJ and our family he is looking down upon us and smiling.
